Led by talented violinist/composer Hannah Thiem, COPAL blends the haunting sounds of violin and cello with world rhythms, electronic soundscapes, and original melodies rooted in global traditions.

I have been playing bass and synths with Copal as we create soundscapes, interweaving string melodies inspired by Middle Eastern rhythms, dark Nordic melodies, Hungarian riffs, Spanish-flavored cadences and harmonies to paint pictures and landscapes.

Accompanied by tribal-style belly dancing, the fusion is taken to a new level, traveling from one end of the globe to another in an eclectic modern mix. Featuring violin, cello, vocals, synth pads, bass guitar, doumbek, frame drum, drum kit, and belly dancers. "Like lucid dreams, the sounds of Copal will carry your spirit away."

As of lately, Copal has been playing shows in NYC and Boston presenting material from the soon-to-be-released album “Into The Shadow Garden”.
